tools for changing the world (your world?), one creative step at a time

art experimentation over Christmas

- a pen (I like my rotring pen)
- a moleskine/good notebook
- a mobile internet connection tablet
- ideas (collect ideas)
- knowledge
- wisdom
- research
- communication
- collaboration
- respect
- imagination
- inspiration
- notation (take note of your ideas, your inspiration, your research and nuggets of wisdom you find along the way)
- wonderment
- inspiration
- awe
- connection
- sharing
- generosity
- good food/eating
- books
- observation
- scissors - cut things out, that relate to the above (you can't beat doing things with your hands too!)
- asking (just try asking)
- belief
- experimentation
- using your gifts
- trust
- art

These are powerful tools if used wisely, carefully, intelligently and with passion.

I have a desire to hold a mirror up to society, but also to find ways forward when things don't seem to work, or the prospects don't look good. But more and more I am finding that by starting; by getting the ball rolling in the direction you are interested in whether its through mere speech; an action; a diary of desires, the more attention paid the more things begin to manifest in the way of your thoughts or desires (aw, but I will say it again be careful what you wish for, or what you think!). Even following my own blog of a journey to where I am now (compared to where I was when I started) has been a thrilling ride through experiments, ideas, actions. There are many tools for us to use starting with our own minds through to social media, but I guess its our INTENTIONS, ETHICS & VALUES that count for a tonne of where we end up or wish to go.

Here's wishing you had (and continue to have) an AMAZING Christmas and festive period with a 2013 filled with magic, art, creativity and an abundance of wishes that come true in every way.

And a couple of links to things that are inspiring me (more to come):

And other inspiring free things on Seth's site here

I have more ideas brewing including art, you and the internet.... I'm working on polishing them, thinking them through, but I will share with you when I 'get there' ;)

Back soon,

  1. I really like that experimentation you've done. Because of the nature of it, I didn't notice the figure in the background at first and it took my eyes a few trips around to see it. It was almost shocking when I saw it there, and gave it a whole new level.

I have also been trying to keep myself creative and motivated in my art making. I've been listening to art and art marketing podcasts at work and reading related books on the bus to motivate myself to use the little free time I have productively when I get it.

I think your list is great, and while I have already been using and thinking about most of those tools, some are reminders of ones I may be neglecting.

I will check out the links for sure and I can't wait to see what you have for us when you "get there"!
